"Customer of 30 years here. Had my homeowners insurance canceled without notice over items that are code compliant and that have been in place for the last 15 years. I was sent a laundry list of vague items to “fix”, some of which there were nothing wrong with at all. Such as that my roof needed repair. There is no damage of any kind to the roof and the roof itself is 7 years old. I would never do business with these people again and neither should you! Update5/2/25: This office has significantly screwed me over and then has the audacity to to say that I am somehow in the wrong. Not sure why it took over a year to tell me what was wrong with the "railing" since no ever mentioned where is should go. Deck sections with height above code already have a railing so to cancel my policy while I'm making multiple calls to try to figure out where they want the railing is absolutely BAD BUSINESS! Not to mention that by alerting the lien holder that insurance was cancelled they trigged a loan payoff demand. Mike: Stop defending poor practices and unrealistic expectations from property owners. I had a meeting with your office to discuss the issue and they canceled the meeting the day of so don't come out publicly to defend your travesty. Your office has significantly and negatively affected my life, and my personal health with the stress and worry this situation created. STOP DEFENDING BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES! You canceled my policy without notice while I was actively trying to fix your vague demands. Asking that I have a railing installed the within a week after cancelation to reinstate the policy is unrealistic. You cant even get a contractor to give you a bid in a week, let alone fabricate and install a railing. Absolutely unacceptable to treat a long term customer."

It is important to clarify that while the porch may meet code compliance standards, this does not eliminate liability concerns when renting out your mother's home. As an insurance provider, State Farm maintains the right to establish conditions that ensure a property is considered an acceptable insurable risk. This standard has always been communicated alongside our expectations for the general maintenance of the property. I apologize for any frustration this situation may have caused. However, please understand that a back deck with a two-foot drop and no railing is universally recognized as a liability risk by any insurance company. Thank you for your understanding, Mike Tingue"

"State Farm has been the insurance agent for my parent's home (now my sister's). One of the best features they offer is a real person to answer the phone...not an endless list selections and numbers to work through. They are always - always - gracious when I call. At one point for a couple of years, I was turning the car insurance off and on when I was there to drive it...they were always friendly and accommodating. We've been through a bathroom leak that required tearing up floors, walls, replacing fixtures, etc. Never a problem between them and the contractor. The contractor said they were easy to work with. Yesterday, we completed the sale of the home and cancelled the insurance...that went smoothly as well. One call is all it took. nothing but praise for the Mike Tingue office and staff."

"I got a quote from Mike today and almost had a stroke. tried to change me a $386 a month for 10 years old car that I’m going to be driving to and back from work 2 miles each way. This is why people don’t like insurance industry.We keep paying and we don’t get nothing back."

"I did not experience great customer service. Received a quote from one gal, and went to purchase and she was no longer working there. The next gal started out great, but then resent my quote to me with a lot of incorrect info including my married name from 20 years ago. I guess, auto populated??? with no checking???"
